Driving on Long Island’s South Shore can be a grind. There are the daily runs along Montauk Highway, slow spots on the Southern State Parkway, and heavy flow on Sunrise Highway, plus those crowded summer drives to beaches, parks, and marinas. Many drivers want a nicer, quieter ride but are also paying close attention to fuel use and time spent at the pump.

 

Bridge traffic along the South Shore can drain anyone. Creep over the Robert Moses Causeway, ease onto the Wantagh, then crawl toward Ocean Parkway, and it can feel like the whole day slips away in stop-and-go. The constant start, stop, and merge gets tiring fast, especially when you do it several times a week.
