Shopping for a 2027 Genesis G70 usually starts with one question: why are there seven versions of the same sedan? At Genesis of the South Shore in West Islip, we'd like to make the answer simple. Below you'll find what each trim name means, what stays the same across the lineup, and how to choose based on the way you actually drive on Long Island.
What a Trim Is and How the G70 Lineup Works
A trim is a version of a model sold at a set level of equipment and price. Think of the G70 as one car offered in several outfits. The body and engine stay put, while features, finishes and drive choices change as you move up.
For 2027, the G70 comes in four trim names: the 2.5T, the 2.5T Sport Advanced, the 2.5T Sport Prestige and the 2.5T Prestige Graphite. Three of those come with a choice of drive systems, which is why you'll see seven versions on window stickers instead of four.
Reading the label
A name like '2.5T (2WD)' packs two ideas together. The '2.5T' part refers to the engine, which comes up in the next section, and the part in parentheses tells you which wheels get the power.
You'll also hear MSRP, short for manufacturer's suggested retail price. It's the starting figure the automaker sets before taxes, fees, options or any offers. G70 pricing runs from $43,800 for the 2.5T (2WD) to $53,800 for the Prestige Graphite. Your monthly payment depends on far more than MSRP, so it's worth exploring your financing options early.
What Every G70 Has in Common
Here's what surprises a lot of first-time shoppers: every 2027 G70 uses the same engine, a 2.5-liter four-cylinder making 300 horsepower. Horsepower measures how much work an engine can do. In everyday driving, more of it means quicker merges and easier passing.
So you don't pay extra for speed as you climb the trims. A base 2.5T merging onto the Southern State has the same muscle as the Prestige Graphite at the top of the range. That frees you to choose a trim for comfort and features without worrying about giving up performance.
Trunk space
Cargo room is measured in cubic feet, and the G70's trunk holds 10.5 on every trim. That's sized like the sports sedan it is: fine for weekend bags or a big grocery run, tighter for bulky gear.
Planning beach days at Robert Moses with a cooler, chairs and an umbrella, or hauling a stroller daily? Bring those items to a test drive and load them in before you decide.
What does change from trim to trim is equipment, finish and the drive system. Those are where your decision really lives.
Rear-Wheel Drive or All-Wheel Drive
Rear-wheel drive (RWD), shown as 2WD in the G70's trim names, sends the engine's power to the back wheels only. Sports sedans have long used this layout because it leaves the front wheels free to focus on steering. Many drivers feel that as a more balanced car through a curve.
All-wheel drive (AWD) can send power to all four wheels. When a tire starts to slip on wet pavement, slush or sand blown across a road near the beach, the system shifts power toward the tires that still have grip. It helps you get moving and stay composed, but it won't help you stop sooner, so tires still matter most in winter.
What AWD costs you
On the 2.5T, Sport Advanced and Sport Prestige, choosing AWD adds $2,000 to the MSRP. The Prestige Graphite comes with AWD only, so there's no choice to make on that trim.
Fuel economy dips slightly too. MPG means miles per gallon, and the combined rating, a blend of city and highway driving, is 24 for rear-drive versions versus 23 with AWD.
Plenty of drivers with a garage, mostly plowed routes and a set of winter tires are happy with RWD. For early shifts on unplowed side streets during a nor'easter, AWD earns its keep. Whichever you pick, you can book service for a tire check before the first snow.
Climbing the Trim Ladder
Since the engine and trunk don't change, each step up is about what surrounds you: equipment, materials and finishing touches. Here's how the lineup stacks up by starting MSRP for the rear-drive versions:
- 2.5T, from $43,800: the most direct way into a G70, and a smart pick if driving feel matters more to you than extras.
- 2.5T Sport Advanced, from $47,250: the first step up, adding more equipment over the base car.
- 2.5T Sport Prestige, from $50,800: a higher level of equipment and finish for shoppers who want more included as standard.
- 2.5T Prestige Graphite, at $53,800: the top of the range, sold with all-wheel drive only.
A gap worth noticing
Look closely at the top two. A Sport Prestige with AWD starts at $52,800, which puts it just below the Prestige Graphite. If you were already leaning toward the Sport Prestige with AWD, it's worth seeing the Graphite too, because the decision there comes down to the specific equipment and look you prefer.
Standard features and packages are where the trims really separate, so check the window sticker on a specific car. When you browse our new G70 inventory, ask to see two neighboring trims side by side. Seeing the differences in person beats reading a feature chart.
Matching a G70 to Your Drive
Pick by how you drive
- Mostly highway miles, tighter budget: the 2.5T (2WD) gives you the full G70 driving experience at the lowest MSRP.
- Year-round commuter who wants traction: the 2.5T (AWD) adds all-weather grip without stepping up in equipment.
- More comfort without going to the top: the Sport Advanced sits in the middle of the range, in either drive system.
- The most a G70 offers: compare the Sport Prestige (AWD) and the Prestige Graphite back to back.
Next steps
A test drive on roads you know tells you more than any brochure. Try a stretch of Sunrise Highway and a few side streets, and if you're torn on drive systems, drive one of each.

- Performance is identical across G70 trims, so pay for features you'll use, not speed.
- All-wheel drive adds cost and trims fuel economy slightly, and it's the only choice on the Prestige Graphite.
- Compare neighboring trims in person, especially the Sport Prestige AWD against the Prestige Graphite.
